Video excerpt from full-room installation piece.
Common milkweed is found growing in fields and along roadsides. It is fairly widespread across North America and can grow up to six feet tall. In the fall the pods dry and release seeds connected to white fluff. The fluff is picked up by slight breezes, allowing the plant to spread its seeds.
For the installation, pods were collected and the fluff released within a room that the viewer could enter. The video was projected at floor level onto three walls, illuminating delicate tendrils of fluff moving through the air. The fluff obscured the floor and filled the air at varying degrees of density.
An experiential installation intended to immerse the viewer and affect the senses, sensitively and abstractedly, bypassing logical and intellectual faculties.
